A Unique Multi-Sensory Approach
to Learning How to Read
early reading
Think your child is too young to start reading? Think again. An early introduction to reading gives your child an advantage to be a lifelong learner.
"fill in the gaps"
Is your child doing fairly well at reading, but the mandated curriculum is just not conducive for progression to a higher level? Ready Reading is designed to not only start your child reading, but to stimulate reading growth with mastery of letters to take him/her to the next level and iron out the problem areas.
basic phonics
You can't beat basic phonics for beginning reading instruction. Ready Reading provides the base level of learning phonics for your beginning reader.
Accelerated independent reading
Ready Reading has proven results showing its students have the advantage of being accelerated and independent readers, long before other programs start to even kick in. Ready Reading provides consistency in the presentation of skills that allows the reader to grasp the meaning of the letters rather than just memorizing images on a screen or page.
MULTI-SENSORY INput
Ready Reading incorporates systematic, synthetic phonics with differentiated instruction to help your reader expand on the basics.
All-in-one reading program
From beginning to end, Ready Reading provides an all-in-one, stand-alone program for basic phonics instruction to move your child from "just learning letters" to reading well independently. View our testimonials and reports of studies that validate benefits of the Ready Reading program!
TYPE OF PROGRAM
Ready Reading instruction utilizes visual, auditory, kinesthetic/tactile, and language input to teach phonics and word blending. It came into existence through practical classroom experience using research and teaching methods that help children learn best and most quickly and was published at the request of teachers who wanted their students to duplicate the achievement seen in the author's classroom.
The Ready Reading manual includes directed and independent activities for students. Supplementary materials, for optional use, include reproducible activity pages and reproducible storybooks with comprehension activity sheets for each lesson to provide reinforcement.
Individual components of Ready Reading can be used as a supplement to any basal reader otherwise mandated by a school. The lessons implement practices that have been recommended by extensive research and include the five basic components advocated in the guidelines of Reading First.
ADVANTAGE TO TEACHERS
It takes very little preparation time for the basic lessons that are easily implemented by both the experienced and inexperienced teacher. Reinforcement and enrichment activities are optional and based on students' needs. Materials for instruction are common items and easily obtained.
ADVANTAGE TO STUDENTS
Ready Reading provides consistency in word attack skills which makes children more proficient and independent in word identification. It enables students to express themselves freely through writing activities at an earlier stage than is usually possible with traditional reading programs. The effectiveness of Ready Reading creates a positive attitude toward reading and writing.
WHO USES READY READING?
Ready Reading is used successfully in Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, Kindergarten, and First Grade classrooms where students need to learn beginning reading skills. It is used in Grade 2 and higher as needed for students who have not had the benefit of this instruction.
Students in higher grades, up to high school and adult, who have not learned to use phonics and have difficulty with word identification skills, use Ready Reading and Ready Reading PLUS for improvement in reading ability.
Special Education students with varying abilities at many levels use Ready Reading and find that multi-sensory activities enable them to stay on task and learn the skills.
Some EMH students taught with Ready Reading have been able to outperform higher-aptitude students in word identification and spelling, when those other students received instruction in a different program.
Students who speak no English find that Ready Reading helps them learn about the English letters and sounds and acquire vocabulary meaning and sentence structure. It can be used from Pre-K to adult with modification according to the English, if any, already known.
